At Gainesville Family Dentistry we offer various types of tooth extractions.

Tooth Extraction is removing a tooth from its socket. Extractions of a tooth may be required for several reasons including:

• Extensive tooth decay which may render a tooth non-salvageable
• Severe periodontal (gum) disease
• Impacted or partially-impacted wisdom teeth
• To create space in the mouth for orthodontic treatment

For an extraction the doctor will administer anesthetic and numb your tooth, jaw and adjoining bone. Extraction of a tooth involves loosening the tooth in its socket and then removing it. The anesthesia takes care of the pain, however, you may feel some pressure sensation. If you feel any pain you should tell the doctor immediately and the dentist may administer more anesthetic to make you comfortable.
